Proposition 8 in California
On Election Day, November 2009, the State of California voted in what is called Proposition 8. With it passing, it now means that California, along with Florida and Arizona, as defining marriage being between a man and woman. (Note, without this definition, it might be possible for someone to marry their dog or cat. See Marriage: How Would You Define It?)
Enter PepsiCo Inc.
It is understandable, that PepsiCo, being a large employer, has to worry about workplace harassment. PepsiCo granted money to organizations that support Homosexuals. I contacted to find out more information. This is what I got:
Dear (name withheld),
Thank you for contacting us at PepsiCo and for sharing your thoughts.
As a company, we made a commitment to promote and support diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our business. We’re proud of the success we’ve had in attracting some of the best and the brightest from around the world and in building a workforce that is truly reflective of the consumers we serve.
In 2008, the PepsiCo Foundation awarded a grant to Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) to help create and launch a national program specifically designed for workplace environments. The initiative seeks to promote further understanding and equality in the places where people spend much of their time —at work.
At PepsiCo, diversity and inclusion are among the values we have adopted for ourselves in the workplace because we see them as important to our viability and success — as individual employees and as a company. And we believe strongly that these values will enhance other businesses and work environments as well.
I hope this helps to clarify the PepsiCo Foundation’s affiliation with PFLAG.

OK, fair enough.
But I had the knowledge that there was more money granted. So I replied with this:
Dear (name withheld),
I can truly understand PepsiCo wanting "to promote and support diversity and inclusion in all aspects of {your} business." You cannot have a hostile work place for anyone, regardless of Sexual Orientation as well as Religious Beliefs.
But, I am truly concerned about the grants given to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). What is the purpose of PepsiCo getting involved with this organization. They are tied heavily to the political arena of Same-Sex Marriage? (See http://www.hrc.org/laws_and_elections/453.htm)
Pepsi gave $500,000 to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the largest and most powerful gay lobbying group in America. The company also gave $500,000 to Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). The total gift of $1,000,000 to the two homosexual activist groups was to help promote the gay lifestyle in the workplace. In the last two years, Pepsi has given $500,000 to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and $500,000 to the Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). The $1,000,000 was to be used to help promote homosexuality in the workplace. Pepsi refuses to give money to any pro-family organization that opposes the homosexual agenda. Plus, every homosexual organization we know of is overwhelmingly pro-abortion.I do not totally agree with your association with PFLAG, and I can understand it.
I do not totally agree with your association with HRC, and I cannot understand it. Unless, of course, PepsiCo has taken the sides of Homosexuals and not Traditional Families.
Thank you for your time,

Not quite an admission… But, at least they are making it sound like they care. And until PepsiCo does something, you can Join the Boycott. And Join the Boycott on Facebook.
Stay tuned for more on this story soon.
